It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she later admitted those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
